Every day, many of us witness car accidents that are a result of inattentive drivers. Unfortunately, some of these accidents result in serious injuries and even death. Those injured and their loved ones face expensive medical bills, rehabilitation expenses and other costs. Sometimes, the proceeds of a successful personal injury claim can assist in easing some of the difficulties of those injured in a car accident by another driver’s negligence.
This comes to mind following news of an accident in Syracuse. A New York teenager has been charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle as a result. According to police, the teenager drove a van into another van in the early evening hours of a recent Saturday, injuring the second van’s driver and passengers. Both vans crashed into an apartment building’s fence. The driver of the second van and her three children were taken to a nearby hospital.
A personal injury claim may be made by those affected by another’s negligent driving. Factors that may be considered in an injury claim are the type and extent of the injuries resulting from the accident, the dollar amount of the loss and anticipated future costs the injured will incur.
Many personal injury claims that arise from car accidents are focused around the standard of negligence and whether the other driver operated the car with reasonable care under the specific conditions present at the time of the wreck. Some claims are a result of another’s reckless and improper conduct when driving. Examples of reckless driving include speeding, failure to use car signals and improperly changing lanes. One might also argue that driving without a license or legal registration is also reckless.
Dealing with a loved one’s injuries resulting from another’s negligent or reckless conduct is always challenging. However, families can get help through financial compensation so that their anxieties from unforeseen expenses may be lessened.
